Overcast (pastel, 2008)

Fitzpatrick Barns on the Foxcroft Road. It was about to rain and the grass had taken on an eerie green glow. This was done very quickly and I managed to get the drawing board and pastel box into the car just seconds before the sky opened up. Of course, I still had to break my easel down, and got soaked in the process...

Great drawing. I think the color on the roofs needs a little more blending, but overall this is wonderful. You can really tell what the drawing is and can almost feel the humidity and storm clouds. Great job.

Thanks for your comment, Anika. I am not 100% happy with the color on the roofs; it's a little too saturated and "linear". I only had about 12 minutes to do this before it started raining. I was tempted to work on it some more in the studio, but I didn't want to over-do it. I am planning to go back to the same location today and work some more.
